Homemade Split Pea Soup

I just tried this recipe and it came out so very good and was so easy it was ridiculous! I myself love to buy my smoked ham hocks at Stater Bros. These things are giant sized and I have them put two saw cuts into each one so that they will cook through.

This recipe is done in a crock pot and you just put in the ingredients in the order listed, turn it on and let it cook till the meat falls off the bone. When that happens, pull out the hock, take all the good meat and throw it back into the soup and it is ready to eat once you give it the desired saltiness. I use chicken broth powder myself but you can use most anything.

Some of the best Smoked Ham Hocks that I have ever used come from Stater Brothers in the meat department. Have the butcher put two cuts into each one so that they cook through. Lots of great meat and flavor from these!
